A Spent Match

A spent match was lying on the ground feeling sorry for himself, when another spent match came up to him and asked him why he was so sad. “I’m spent, I’m done, it’s all over,” said the match on the ground, “and it’s all over for you too,” he continued, “so why do you look so happy?” the forlorn match said.
“It’s true,” said the happier match, “I too have been struck and cast aside when spent, but I choose to remember how I glowed, how I shone.”
For a few seconds the sad match sat, thought, and slowly stood up, dusted himself off and began to smile.
“I get it…” He began, “we’ve made a difference, lighting the world just once, glowing and brilliant.”
“That’s right,” said his friend, “our 5 minutes of flame.”

Groan away 🙂 I was sitting here thinking of how we don’t always see the fantastic person we really are until someone tells us what a difference we’ve made to them and their world.

We all have our sparks of brilliance, our glow, our affect on this world and the people around us. Never forget that you can make a difference in how you shine for others, and how others, in turn, see, feel and use your light.
